Mini babydoll looks hit the catwalk at Paul Costelloe, the first show at London Fashion Week. The theme was unstructured looks with ivory as principal colour whilst the guys were dressed in shocking pinks. The celeb studded front row included film actress Rosamund Pike and Jimmy Choo.  Harold Tilman gave his usual warm welcome to everyone, whist  Mayor Boris Johnson buffooned around pretending he could not name any designers other than Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen and a designer called BBQ (?!)

Elegance is a way of life for Caroline Charles, so it hardly came as a surprise that her collection summed this up so perfectly. We liked the aqua blue print twinkle dance dresses whilst the coral trousers cut to swing looked stunning with matching lipstick.

Maria Grachvogel chose the marvellously elegant Lancaster  Ballroom at The Savoy Hotel for her Spring /Summer 2012 collection. Fabrics looked delicious as they draped asymmetrically on red carpet dresses. Amongst our star  picks were the lightening prints and acid apple silks. Atalanta Weller designed  some excellent cut-away shoe boots in blossom suede. As we reported recently,  Atalanta  Weller is a name to watch.

With perfect sunny weather, the courtyard of Somerset House was filled with the world’s fashion press and buyers. With 100 catwalk shows
and 200 exhibitors, the choice of fabulous designs at this London fashion Week promises to be better than ever.
