Marios Schwab AW13Autumnal wines poured down the runway late into the evening as Marios Schwab’s models sashayed along the catwalk in signature layering of burgundy wine hued fabrics. Of note were giant lace applique over wool and we did so like the elegant capes over minis with detailed sleeves that opened attractively beneath the shoulder. This London Fashion Week will be marked as a vintage year for Schwab and this collection is sure to be snapped up quickly at cool stores such as Conduit Street’s, Layers.

DSCN3555Emerging designers in order to stand out from the crowd have become more and more sophisticated in presentations using films, art and even theatrical performance to gain attention. Earlier in the day, Fashion Fabulous ventured upon a creative ballet performance installation by Jayne Pierson, at the Portico Rooms within Somerset House.  Although it wasn’t quite the Royal Ballet, it was great to see some real dance being incorporated into fashion performance.  With accents of Elizabethan styles in soft pastels this is a pretty collection certain to have wide appeal.

DSCN3556Tom Van Der Borght received a lot of interest showing seriously dramatic Japanese Kabuki theatrical influences.

DSCN3554For fashionistas with a penchant for historical military icons, they need look no further that Jane Bowler’s re-interpretation of Joan of Arc outfits featuring perspex triangles conjuring up a chainmail effect perfect for glitzy don’t-mess-with-me femme fatale warriors.

DSCN3587In another section of the very elegant Somerset House, Nicola Woods certainly brightened up our day with her sparkling personality and vivacious florals in the form of hydrangea prints and ladybirds in 70’s long flowing dresses. “It was reflective of fond childhood memories” the creator of the Beautiful Soul label collection told us.

Basharatyan V AW13Moscow-born Veronica Basharatyan showed her “Broken Angel” a presentation of clean classic lines, minimalistic in black white and red. Designed in London and appearing under the label Basharatyan V and although not in the capital’s shops quite yet, Fashion Fabulous tips this as one of the labels of 2013 to watch!
