Curvenetic Face Exercise ImageFacial exercises are proving to be a big hit with fashionistas at the moment. One set that has been very successful for many years are those developed by Curvenetics UK. With Curvenetics the muscles of the face are exercised precisely with tiny movements for superb facial conditioning. They do not stretch the skin.

The benefits that you get from facial exercises are very different from those of skincare products. Skincare products act just on the skin and not the muscles. Curvenetic face exercises complement the benefits of skincare products such as high quality creams, leaving you with a well-textured, well- toned healthier looking face. As a natural, non-surgical technique it ticks all the right boxes:

√ Keeps facial muscles taut

√ Helps reduce lines

√ Helps reduce wrinkles

√ Maintains youthful look

√ Tones face

√ Improves texture

√ Complements skincare products

Ready for your own full FACIAL EXERCISE?  Book a 30 minute personalised facial exercise programme, £50 per session in Oxford Circus.

London Fashion Week famed for its womenswear catwalks also feature a selected number of outstanding menswear shows. This is a new designer and was one of the best! Harry Xu’s show at Fashion Scout, Covent Garden had a  vision attempting to symbolise the conflict between reality and fantasy explored through a journey from teenage street-style to modern society mature man.

Here are our highlights: Among the key designs were the paired-three graduated sized pockets featured on coats and jackets (see above).

001-1

We look at over a thousand fashion shops in London and then pick the top 200 and review them in detail. From luxurious Bond Street to edgy Shoreditch and Brick Lane we give unbiased reviews of the hottest places to buy fashion. Here we give an excerpt from the next edition of Fashion Fabulous London.

Smythson 40 New Bond Street, London W1S 2DE | t: 020 7629 8558 | Mon-Fri, 9.30am-6pm, Thurs, 10am-7pm, Sat 10am-6pm | Nearest Tube Bond Street LU, 4 min walk | www.smythson.com

Category: Classic, Heritage |TOP 200 Shop | Womenswear, Menswear | Own label |

Walk through their Bond Street doors and experience 120 years of contemporary design and heritage style. The holder of three Royal warrants, in the 1920’s Smythson produced stationery for European Royals and Indian Maharajas. Nowadays, for fashionistas the main event is the definitely wow handbags You’ll find high quality lady-like designs by the former Prime Minister’s wife, Samantha Cameron (who in 2007 created the famous Nancy Bag) now off to launch her own fashion label. No prices are visible on items, so you will need to pick them up to look inside and it feels a bit prohibitive to do that here. The sales staff veer on the sniffy side, but are first class bag tour guides. Each bag comes with its own tour! The exterior is very formal; inside it’s tastefully decorated with white columns and arches.

On Women’s: Many bags have product branding, including “Established 1887 Smythson of Bond Street” arranged over three lines, so is very conspicuous. The 1887 Tote in calf leather with lambskin interior is £1495, whilst a large Tote from the Eliot collection at £1250 made in soft nubuck and taurillon has their signature Nile blue thread and striped lining. Also interesting colours such as was the pale blue Panama zip Tote at £595. Also there’s a good range of clutches, purses and key rings to match. Classic wallets are around the £200.

002-1On Men’s: We liked the denim blue briefcase at £995 that comes with a wing lock closure that is available in black, brown or navy. The 24 hour travel bags were very smart at £1205. A laptop bag in black, or a brown goatskin computer case £1100 with handles, were hard to choose between. Another tote bag with shoulder strap was £1295. The large navy shoulder messenger in deerskin Burlington Collection could hold two laptops, was £795, and with two zippers looked attractive.

Smythson is also available at 135 Sloane St, SW1; 214 Westbourne Grove, Notting Hill, W11; 7 Royal Exchange EC3; Selfridges, Harrods, and Harvey Nichols.

Ratings: Wow factor: 3 shopping bags; Choice: 4 shopping bags; Service: 4 shopping bags; Price: £££££

5 shopping Bags = Excellent | 4 shopping Bags = Very Good | 3 shopping Bags = Good

From stunning historical fashion pieces to modern day ready-to-wear pieces, there’s over 120 exhibits here to fascinate with the theme of vulgarity and excess. We had the good fortune to be sent an invitation to The Vulgar – Fashion Redefined Exhibition Private View at Barbican Gallery, London. Here’s our review of it and some of the enjoyable highlights that we encountered.

Set on two floors, we found that fashion curator and exhibition maker Judith Clark and psychoanalyst and writer Adam Phillips have produced a thought-provoking event that confronted our current attitudes towards what is vulgar in current fashions and gave a very clear and interesting explanation of the origins of fashion vulgarity and excess. Of the more contemporary exhibits amongst our favourites were Richard Sage’s Pound Sterling Bank Note Dress created from £6000 worth of actual banknotes (sponsored by Britannic Money!) Hussein Chalayan Dress with painted nails and the excessive Victor & Rolf Van Gogh Girls Couture Show, S/S 2015 pictured above (© Team Peter Stigte)

1748dress

If you think that the Vivienne Westwood’s, Alexander McQueen’s and Jean Paul Gautier’s to name but a few were over the top then you’ll in for a real treat from some of the historical exhibits such as the jaw-dropping 18th Century court dress 1748-1750 courtesy of the Fashion Museum Bath (see above), the I’ve got load’s money Viennese Gold bonnet 1798/1810 from the Wien museum.

As exhibitions go this is not a blockbuster of Alexander McQueen and David Bowie proportions but is right up with many of the best of the intriguing and displays of iconic creative fashions. If there is one slight criticism that one could make is that there could have been some more examples from lesser known designers rather than so many of the large established brands and designers.

It’s an exhibition that discusses what people think of what is vulgar and does vulgarity really exist. It’s an exhibition that will stimulate your grey cells and challenge your perceptions of states of minds and people believing that they are superior to other people.

006-1

To continue your experience of The Vulgar into the real world head to Gallery’s shop where you can purchase a replica of the famous Mondrian dress designed by Yves St Laurent – a snip at £199.

007-1

Or this Vulgar Hand Fan by illustrator Alice Smith for just £20.

008-1

The Preview Evening attracted several hundred famous people from the fashion and art world including Grayson Perry (above), Simon Le Bon and Pam Hogg who had several exhibits herself.

002-1

The Vulgar – Fashion Redefined. Barbican Gallery, Silk Street, London EC2 runs from 13th October 2016- 5 February 2017… More details at https://www.barbican.org.uk/artgallery/event-detail.asp?ID=18736

teatum-jones-ss17

See Now! Buy Now! Was the new fashion runway concept to hit many London Fashion Week’s Spring/Summer 2017 collections from big brands such as Burberry through to retailers such as Oliver Spencer and emerging brands like Helter. First up, Rennie Mackintosh’s watercolour paintings inspired Teatum Jones’s LFW show at BFC Space, Soho, London (pictured above). Teatum Jones as did many others followed the traditional route of previewing for SS17.

027-1

We loved the Rohmir show at Fashion Scout, Freemasons Hall, Covent Garden. On Rohmir’s catwalk the English Country House was the source of inspiration with a large collection of glamorous yet well-behaved sophisticated dresses. Lots of florals from Liberty-style small prints to bolder painterly prints for daywear and evening were in evidence. Tweeds on dresses and suits were edged with feathers  Designer Olga Roh did a great job and we are great fans of her Maddox Street boutique just off Bond Street.

002-2

024-1Each time we write an edition of Fashion Fabulous London we look at over a thousand shops and from there pick the top 200 and review them in detail. Standout accessories at the moment are shoes and we would love to share some of the best we saw at London Collections: Men. We enjoyed Louis Leeman’s menswear shoe presentation at the Café Royal Hotel in Regent Street, especially the black and white weave abstracts (pictured above).

022-1Alpine Gentleman’s Clubs were the inspiration for Louis Leeman’s luxurious shoes. Small crystals are hand-applied to create the impression of ice! Check out those winter sweater motifs!

025-1Louis Leeman showed great hand-embroidered on soft silk pair and some excellent evening shoes such as the one above.

034-1We loved the Lathbridge by Patrick Cox collection! These wrinkly wet-look patent material and square toe Wannabe loafer are sure to be big hit! The collection offers a re-visit and rework of his best selling styles that he is famous for.

033-1More great shoes from Patrick Cox! The styles are fortified with either a contrasting double thick leather sole or a chunky crepe wedge. The group also comprises a lace up ankle boot and a chukka.

032-1We liked these multi-strap shoes and boots with mismatched buckles giving them a vintage feel. The collection is designed in London, handcrafted in Italy and features eco-friendly veg-tanned leathers.

047-1We caught up with Patrick Cox at the launch of his wonderful new collection! Patrick Cox’s shoe store on Sloane Street was one of the very first shops we reviewed in the Fashion Fabulous book series. The shoes were truly inspiring. Patrick told us “It was good to be back! I’m very much looking forward to opening a new shop in about a year’s time.”

044-1X-Factor group Alien came to view the shoe collection and told us they are busy recording!

053-1

We were really impressed by Finsk’s new launch into men’s shoes. They have created five different shapes that come in an array striking colour combinations. We loved the dual colour heels and flash soles.

045-1From Brick Lane to Bond Street, Fashion Fabulous looks at all kinds of styles and designers to bring the very best in the Capital’s shopping choices.

054-1Other shoes at the BFC Designer Showrooms at Victoria House, Bloomsbury.

048-1We featured The Old Curiosity Shop in the Top 200 shop in our latest edition of Fashion Fabulous London. Here at LC:M they showed a departure from their famous square toed shoes in favour of more classic collaborations with Tricker’s and Sanders. Check those  different coloured patents for standout wear. Always worth a visit, The Old Curiosity Shop is at 13-14 Portsmouth Street, London WC2A 2ES.

028-1Cocktails and champagne were in abundance throughout this fashion week with great parties every night!
