See Now! Buy Now! Was the new fashion runway concept to hit many London Fashion Week’s Spring/Summer 2017 collections from big brands such as Burberry through to retailers such as Oliver Spencer and emerging brands like Helter. First up, Rennie Mackintosh’s watercolour paintings inspired Teatum Jones’s LFW show at BFC Space, Soho, London (pictured above). Teatum Jones as did many others followed the traditional route of previewing for SS17.

We loved the Rohmir show at Fashion Scout, Freemasons Hall, Covent Garden. On Rohmir’s catwalk the English Country House was the source of inspiration with a large collection of glamorous yet well-behaved sophisticated dresses. Lots of florals from Liberty-style small prints to bolder painterly prints for daywear and evening were in evidence. Tweeds on dresses and suits were edged with feathers  Designer Olga Roh did a great job and we are great fans of her Maddox Street boutique just off Bond Street.

Fashion Fabulous gets lots of requests for what are the best hotspots during London Fashion Week. Well, we can say confidently the just opened QP Lounge on Dover Street, Mayfair is most definitely a real go to top notch restaurant and bar already building up a strong reputation with London and international fashionistas. A full review will be appearing in the next edition of Fashion Fabulous London available in all good bookshops and on Amazon and many independent bookshop websites. Here’s a taster of their great opening night that we went to!

QP already has a great reputation for Italian cuisine in Mayfair so it was no surprise that there was going to be a fantastic turnout for their new downstairs QP Lounge, a cool spacious beautifully decorated comfortable room.

A big opening is often a good predictor of great food and drink and this Dolce Vita themed party here was no exception. With a magnificent Aston Martin parked outside and a host of models and socialites in Dolce Vita styled in black and white flowing dresses this was a night to remember!

dscn6353-1

Dover Street is now a stronghold for designer brands with Victoria Beckham at No.30. Christian Louboutin Men’s at 35, Jimmy Choo Men’s 35a, and McQ at 14 and Wolf & Badger to name but a few.

On entering the ground floor QP Restaurant there’s a stunning chandelier, smart tables and a very good bar!

dscn6349-1

Downstairs, the bar is nice and long with  some great pictures on the walls and lots of tables. Service was excellent. The downstairs is often used for private events such as art exhibitions.

dscn6347-1

Moscow Mule is a one of the signature cocktails here – and very good it is too!

dscn6348-1

….There’s a formidable selection of wines too to pair with the Michelin star food.

The QP bar food list is reasonably priced with Chicken Caesar Salad £10, Salmon Tartare, avocado and tomatoes £16 and plenty of other yummy choices. We loved the restaurant’s fillet of line caught seabass that will set you back £30.

dscn6352-1

Chanel, Versace and Valentino were just a few of the designer labels we saw people wearing although we did see some more independent labels from designer-run boutiques such as Nico Didonna from nearby Soho, Unconditional in Covent Garden and Rupert Sanderson off Berkeley Square. Fashion Fabulous’s Russell Rose (pictured above) went for an Armani linen suit.

Can’t wait to go again to the QP Lounge – and try a few of their  Martinis!

ITV Tracy Rose Ladies Day 2016

Fashion was at its peak for July to the 100,000+ sell-out packed crowd of enthusiastic racegoers at the Qatar Glorious Goodwood Festival, West Sussex, England.

At Ladies Day, most women wore fascinators or hats although there is no strict dress code. Lots picked pinks, reds and floral prints and glamorous high heels. In the Richmond Enclosure, where we were the dress code for men was jacket and tie. Many men opted for linens suits and Panama hats although blue suits were very popular too!

Tracy Rose’s “Summer Breeze Hat” in lilac, yellow and pink satins were entwined into a plaited bow with the ends flying out into the air inspired by the gentle winds of the Goodwood Racecourse. The Summer Breeze Hat is another of Tracy’s designs creating the vivacious illusion of movement. Tracy Rose was the first hat designer to create millinery in motion. It stems from her background as a ballet dancer.

Royal Ascot is the highlight of the millinery calendar – and this year was no exception! It featured a vast array of flamboyant hats worn by racegoers that came from all corners of the globe.

Fashion Fabulous’s Tracy Rose created a special piece of millinery for Royal Ascot’s First Day entitled  “Jockeys in Motion Hat” .

It follows on from her “Wave” series and is the most elaborate one to date. It is an abstract hat inspired by the jockeys satins racing at high speed at Ascot. Vibrant tangerine, lemon, pink and turquoise satins whoosh through this millinery creation to fabulous effect.

More and more we are seeing women dressed as a group in co-ordinated outfits that take months of planning. Blue and reds were very popular colours for  women! Whilst men adorned their morning suits with brightly coloured waistcoats. Tracy Rose (far left) wore  her “Millinery in Motion” Hat featuring cobalt blue, yellow and pink satin. The hat creates the vivacious illusion of movement. Tracy Rose was the first hat designer to create millinery in motion.

Tracy Rose wearing the “Beautiful June” Hat on Royal Ascot Ladies Day, 16th June 2016. Created in memory of Tracy’s mother, June Shoben, a much loved enjoyer of Royal Ascot herself for 28 years, the hat features the seasons of the year in the form of black branches with a white wintry ice effect, pastel pink Spring blossom, gold Autumn branches tipped off with red heart leaves adorned with crystal teardrops. In the centre, a red and pink rose representing June as the most beautiful month of the year and Tracy’s mother being symbolically represented as a most beautiful person.

Fashion was on a high with a sell-out packed crowd of enthusiastic racegoers at the world’s greatest flat racing meeting, the Investec Epsom Derby festival. Lots of women picked floral prints and picked out the colour accessories with. Blue was a favourite for both men and women!

There were also more exuberant colours too!

To celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday Fashion Fabulous’s Tracy Rose created the 1926 Art Deco Hat for Epsom Derby Ladies Day 2016. The Art Deco inspired design was in the shape of a diamond with a vibrant beaded fringe adorned in stunning yellow and pink crêpe.

It was 1926 that the Queen was born, the very same year that the term ‘Art Deco’ was itself coined, following a retrospective exhibition called Les Années ’25, held at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

DSCN6260-1We loved the atmosphere! And we came out just ahead on the betting with a good win on Examiner. Tracy Rose was photo-bombed by the jazz band in the Queen’s Stand! Didn’t know a horse could play the sax!

We can’t wait to go again next year!

We were delighted to attend the opening day of the London Book Fair at Olympia West London that was celebrating its 45th anniversary. Attracting over 25,000 professionals from 120 countries as ever it was packed! It was a great opportunity to catch up with our many contacts within the publishing industry. As fashion journalists and authors of the Fashion Fabulous London book series, we were once again totally impressed by the sheer choice of informative and beautifully crafted and created fashion books.

Publishers Thames and Hudson went big with two books on Chanel! And Dior New Looks. We featured both these labels and London stores in our current edition of Fashion Fabulous.
